About

PROJECT PAPYROPHILIA is a celebration of an artist’s treatment of one of the most exciting and enduring mediums: work on paper. PROJECT PAPYROPHILIA emphasizes how working on paper can be a vital and immediate process that is free from constraints often encountered when working in other media.

Selected from outstanding international contemporary artists by prominent gallerist, curator, artist and respected talent spotter Zavier Ellis, our portfolio is regularly updated with new work.

Ellis is the founder and director of CHARLIE SMITH LONDON and has curated exhibitions internationally including Berlin, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Klaipėda, Los Angeles, Naples and Rome. He was also co-founder and co-curator of THE FUTURE CAN WAIT, an independent museum scale exhibition for emerging to mid-career artists that occurred during Frieze week for 10 years. Between 2011 and 2014 THE FUTURE CAN WAIT was organised by invitation in partnership with Saatchi’s New Sensations. Ellis continues to place work in prominent private collections globally.

PROJECT PAPYROPHILIA is a CHARLIE SMITH LONDON & Ellis Smith Projects production.
